What’s on the line with the new hairstyles?
When you’re a teenager you can expect to have your hair cut, which in some cases may be more like a haircut than a regular shampoo and conditioner.
This is because shampoo is what your hair has been growing and your hair follicles have been absorbing the ingredients in shampoo, and therefore have a longer shelf life.
When you go back to school and your hairstyles are not getting any younger, your hair will be longer, and it will need to be shaved as well.
It’s a tough balance and for some people, it can be a difficult one to navigate.
But in a few short years, hair salon owners across the US have realised that their clients have grown accustomed to a longer hairstyle.
“The number of people who are now looking back on their past year and wondering, ‘Where did I go wrong?’ is staggering,” said Lauren Pascual, who is based in New York City.
“In the US, I have had more people coming in asking me, ‘I don’t remember that haircut, where did I come from?'”
It’s also been a big boon for hair stylists.
“We’ve had a lot of people come in with their kids who have grown up with their hair longer than we expected,” said Pascu.
“They’re just like, ‘It’s really long!'”
But the popularity of hair extensions, which are a natural extension of hair and provide volume without the need for a hair cut or any styling whatsoever, has been a hit, too.
“A lot of kids are doing hair extensions,” Pascuel added.
“And a lot more parents are coming in to tell us about the new styles that they’re using.
It has really given people a sense of confidence in their hair.”
The trend for extensions has been on the rise for some time, but not everyone is convinced that it is going to continue.
“When I started doing hair, I was like, why do you think that you’re doing that?” said Kristin McDaniel, who has been using a stylist for her hair extensions for the past year.
“I mean, I’m sure people do it all the time, and they’re just doing it as a way of getting hair extensions.”
But for McDaniel and other hair stylist Jennifer O’Brien, who recently opened her salon in New Jersey, extensions have been an integral part of their business.
“People are really excited about them,” she said.
“It’s a way for people to keep their hair in style.
Hair extensions are so easy to do, and people love it.
I’ve been telling clients that I can do them with no effort, and that’s just the way it is.”
But what about people who don’t want to use a stylists services?
McDaniel said she was recently contacted by a woman who didn’t want extensions for her natural hair, but wanted to get a wig.
“She just wanted to do it naturally and keep it as short as possible, which is not ideal,” McDaniel explained.
“We’ve found that the more people use the service, the more money we make,” said O’Briens salon manager.
“But for the same amount of hair, we’d probably need to do 20 haircuts a month.”
But the hair stylistry industry is still in its infancy.
“There’s definitely a lot that needs to be done,” McBride added.
“There’s so much more to be learned,” she added.
For some hair stylers, the extension is just another way to look more professional.
“You need to look professional in any industry, so it’s definitely not a trend that’s going away any time soon,” said McDaniel.
